Grete Brochmann

Grete Brochmann is a Professor at the University of Oslo's Department of Sociology and Social Geography, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on international migration, European immigration policy, comparative integration policies in welfare states, and historical studies of immigration to Norway. She earned a Dr. polit. (PhD) from the University of Oslo in 1990 and has held leadership roles, including Research Director at the Institute for Social Research (1995–2007).

Brochmann’s work bridges academia and policy, with global collaborations including visiting scholar positions at the University of California, Berkeley (1999–2000), Boston College (2007–2008), and the Willy Brandt Professorship at the University of Malmö (2002).
