Gretchen Tanner is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Music, University of Utah, where she teaches beginning piano classes, private lessons, and Piano Pedagogy courses. She also serves as Director of the Preparatory Division, overseeing a program with 27 faculty and 300+ students.

Her work focuses on piano pedagogy, performance, and community music engagement. She performs in the Little-Gretchen Duo at faculty concerts, Temple Square Concert Series, and accompanies local choirs. Her research interests include youth music education, collaborative performance, and pedagogical practices in piano instruction.
Recent scholarly activities highlight her expertise in piano pedagogy, including chamber music collaborations and solo performances. She also contributes to community outreach programs, particularly through the University of Utah Piano Outreach Program.
As faculty advisor to the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Collegiate Chapter, she adjudicates and presents in pedagogical forums. Her teaching portfolio includes courses like Piano Pedagogy I/II and applied keyboard instruction.
