Gregory Thomas

Gregory P. Thomas is a Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta, specializing in science education with a focus on metacognition and learning environments. He holds a BEd from James Cook University (1987), MEdSt from Monash University (1992), and PhD from Queensland University of Technology (1999). Previously, he was Head of the Department of Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and Technology at the Hong Kong Institute of Education and Chair of the Department of Secondary Education at the University of Alberta. His research explores metacognition in science teaching and learning, including metaphor use and learning environment design.
