Dr Gregory Salter is an Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Birmingham, specializing in British art since 1945, with a focus on gender, sexuality, migration, and domestic spaces. He joined Birmingham in 2016 after roles at the Geffrye Museum, Queen Mary University, and the Courtauld Institute of Art. His research explores transnational art histories and the intersection of art with socio-political themes such as decolonization and queer identity. His 2019 book, Art and Masculinity in Post-War Britain: Reconstructing Home, influenced the Barbican's 2022 exhibition on postwar modern art. Salter contributes to undergraduate and graduate programs, including modules on contemporary art and gender studies.
