Gregory Jacobs

Gregory (Greg) Jacobs is an Instructor in Pipetrades at the School of Construction at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). He teaches core subjects including mathematics, science, technical drawings, layouts, and specifications for pipe trades programs. Jacobs holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary (1991) and is a certified Red Seal Steamfitter/Gasfitter and Plumber.

His professional contributions include serving as SAIT's representative on the Alberta Apprenticeship Industry Training (AIT) Steamfitter/Pipefitter committee from 2015 to 2019, where he helped transition a three-year apprenticeship program to a four-year structure and aligned Alberta’s curriculum with national standards set by the Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeships (CCDA). Jacobs also played a pivotal role in redeveloping Individual Learning Modules (ILMs) during a major structural transformation of the ILM initiative, ensuring alignment with updated course outlines for Steamfitter/Pipefitter and Plumber programs.

Greg Jacobs is actively engaged in advancing technical education and apprenticeship frameworks, with a focus on standardization and industry collaboration. Outside academia, he enjoys alpine skiing, a hobby he has pursued since his teenage years.
