About
Dr. Gregory H. Wolf serves as Professor of German and Dennis and Jean Bauman Professor in the Humanities within North Central College's Department of World Languages and Cultures. A faculty member since 2005, he also directs Undergraduate Research and Prestigious Fellowships while mentoring the baseball team since 2017.
His educational credentials include a B.A. from The University of the South (1989) and M.A. (1991) and Ph.D. (1996) in German from Ohio State University.
Wolf's research spans German literature from the 18th-20th centuries, ethnic migration, language pedagogy, and East German (GDR) studies, with significant contributions to German film and graphic novel pedagogy. His parallel expertise in baseball history examines sports as societal reflection, producing over 15 books and 300 essays through the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR).
His publications reveal dual scholarly trajectories: German studies works focus on literary analysis and language education, while baseball histories provide team-specific narratives examining cultural impacts of stadiums and franchises across American regions and eras.
