His office is located in the Institute Building at Burgstraße 21, Room 103. He will be on research leave starting April 1, 2025, though the chair will continue offering workshops during this period.
Prof. Roth's research spans multiple interconnected legal domains with emphasis on corporate structures and tax implications. His work focuses on association and foundation law, GmbH law (particularly information law in GmbHs), stock corporation law, corporate tax law, trade tax law, and the intersection of insolvency law with corporate and tax frameworks. He examines specialized areas including forward transactions, derivatives, and the legal challenges of non-profit organizations.
His research demonstrates consistent focus on practical legal applications in business structures and tax frameworks, with particular attention to how legal mechanisms function in real-world economic contexts. Recent work emphasizes foundation law reforms, succession planning, and the evolving regulatory landscape for non-profit organizations.
Prof. Roth actively supervises doctoral candidates, with recent completions including dissertations on board member activities in social security law, delegation of duties by associations, and crowdinvesting models for startups. He requires doctoral candidates to have passed legal state examinations with at least 'fully satisfactory' grades.
The Center for Non-Profit Law Central Germany represents a significant institutional affiliation, where Prof. Roth contributes to research and policy development. He also leads the 'Leipzig Exam Offensive (LEO)' program and has developed innovative educational tools including the 'Jura aufs Ohr' learning podcast and an AI chatbot for legal education.
