Greggor Mattson is a Professor and Chair of Sociology at Oberlin College, affiliated with the Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies Program. He holds a BA from George Washington University (1997), an MPhil from Oxford University (1999), and a PhD from UC Berkeley (2008). His research focuses on LGBTQ+ spatial dynamics, including gay bars, gentrification, and subcultural spaces. Notable works include Who Needs Gay Bars? (2023), which won the IPPY Gold Medal in 2024.
