Dr. Greg Rebchook is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), School of Medicine, within the Division of Prevention Science. He holds leadership roles as Director of the UCSF CDC-funded Prevention Research Center (PRC) and Director of the Community Engagement Core at the NIMHD-funded Research Coordinating Center (RCC RD-MCD). His work focuses on implementation science and HIV prevention, particularly among transgender women of color and young gay/bisexual men, especially African Americans. He has been in the HIV prevention field since 1987 and has led numerous NIH-funded studies, including interventions to improve HIV care engagement and reduce disparities.
Education: PhD in Sociocultural Psychology (University of Colorado Boulder, 1996); BS in Psychology (Loyola University Chicago, 1988); Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Champion Training (UCSF, 2018).
Research Interests: Implementation science, HIV prevention, health disparities, transgender health, and community-based interventions. Key areas include scaling evidence-based programs, improving health equity, and addressing structural barriers to care.
Grants/Projects: PI of studies funded by HRSA, NIMH, and Gilead, including interventions for transgender Latinas in Oakland, CA, and the Texas PrEP Implementation Study (TPIS). He also co-leads initiatives to build capacity in HIV/AIDS programs and evaluate evidence-informed interventions.
Labs/Teams: Active in UCSF’s Center for AIDS Prevention Studies and collaborates with organizations like the Mpowerment Project and the Prevention Research Center to develop culturally relevant interventions.
