Greg Nordstrom

Greg Nordstrom is an Instructor of Meteorology in the Department of Geosciences at Mississippi State University, where he has over 15 years of experience in weather forecasting and storm chasing. He holds advanced degrees in Geosciences from the same institution and has achieved national recognition in collegiate forecasting competitions.

His educational qualifications include:

• M.S. in Geosciences (Operational Meteorology), Mississippi State University, 2007
• B.S. in Geosciences (Broadcast Meteorology with minor in Communications), Mississippi State University, 2003

Mr. Nordstrom's research interests center on historical weather phenomena, with a focus on South Florida Hurricanes (particularly the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane), Washington D.C. Blizzards and Snowstorms, and Dixie Alley Tornado Outbreaks. His extensive field experience includes chasing numerous hurricanes, tornadoes, and nor'easters across the United States, contributing to his expertise in severe weather events.

He has earned significant accolades in the North American Collegiate Forecasting Competition, including three consecutive team national titles (2008-2011) and an individual national title in the graduate division (2005-2006). His consistent high performance is evidenced by multiple top-20 national finishes over several competition years.
