About
Greg Nini is the Marshall Austin Endowed Term Professor in Finance at the Gerri C. LeBow College of Business, Drexel University. His research focuses on corporate finance, capital markets, and the design of bank loans, with a particular interest in nonprice terms of corporate credit agreements and leveraged lending. He holds a Ph.D. in applied economics from the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) and a B.A. in mathematics and economics from Swarthmore College. Prior to Drexel, he was on the faculty at Wharton and worked as an economist at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington D.C.
Professor Nini serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial Services Research, and Journal of Risk and Insurance. His work has addressed critical issues such as leveraged lending risks, testified before the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services in 2019, and explored topics like loan covenant violations and institutional investor behavior in credit markets. His research often bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis of financial market dynamics, particularly in corporate debt structures and regulatory impacts.
Key themes in his articles include the evolution of loan covenant practices, the role of external capital during crises (e.g., the 2020 pandemic), and the interplay between creditor rights and corporate governance. His contributions highlight both academic rigor and practical relevance to financial policy and institutional decision-making.
