Greg Mowry is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the School of Engineering, University of St. Thomas, where he has taught since 2003. He is the founding director of the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering program, the Center for Microgrid Research, and the Renewable Energy and Alternatives Laboratory (REAL). With over 25 years of industry experience at companies like Hewlett-Packard and Seagate Technology, he brings practical expertise to the classroom.

His publications reveal a consistent theme of applying power electronics and renewable energy technologies to address energy challenges in underserved communities, particularly in Eastern Africa and Moldova. Projects include hospital power systems, village lighting, and portable biodiesel production, highlighting sustainability and accessibility.
Dr. Mowry actively mentors students through design clinics and international projects, securing grants for humanitarian energy initiatives. He has led student teams to implement renewable energy systems in Tanzania, Uganda, and Moldova.
He directs the Renewable Energy and Alternatives Laboratory (REAL) and the Center for Microgrid Research, which provide platforms for student research and development of sustainable power solutions.
