Greg Forter

Greg Forter is a Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of South Carolina. He holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Berkeley (1998). His research focuses on postcolonial literature and theory, twentieth-century US literature, Marxism, utopian studies, critical race theory, gender studies, and psychoanalysis.

Forter teaches courses such as 'History and Utopia: Global Historical and Speculative/Science Fictions,' 'Postcolonial Historical Fiction,' and 'Modernist Masculinities.' He has authored three influential books exploring intersections between gender, capitalism, and literary form. His current research examines global capitalism’s impact on temporal experience and literary representation of heterogeneous time.
