Greg Dickinson

Greg Dickinson is a Professor and Director of the Joe Blake Center for Engaged Humanities at Colorado State University (CSU). He holds the William E. Morgan Endowed Professorship and leads initiatives in public humanities. His academic background includes a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.

His research focuses on memory, materiality, race, gender, and urban spaces, with publications in communication, cultural studies, and rhetoric. Dickinson’s work analyzes sites like coffee shops, shopping malls, museums, and gentrified areas, interrogating how spaces shape cultural narratives. His books include Suburban Dreams, The Twitter Presidency, and Places of Public Memory.

His scholarship has earned prestigious awards such as the National Communication Association Golden Anniversary Monograph Award and the College of Liberal Arts Excellence in Teaching Award. Dickinson also founded the ACT Human Rights Film Festival, blending academic rigor with community engagement.

His recent articles explore topics like memory politics in Western museums, the rhetoric of climate activism, and digital-age presidential communication. Dickinson’s interdisciplinary approach bridges theory and practice, emphasizing material culture’s role in shaping societal discourses.
