Grace Huang

Grace Huang is a Professor of Political Science at St. Lawrence University. She holds a PhD from the University of Chicago and an A.B. from Brown University, graduating Magna cum laude. Her office is located in Hepburn Hall 212, and she can be reached at 315-229-5439.

Her research expertise spans political leadership, political culture, and work-family balance, with a particular focus on Chinese politics, Asian politics, and comparative politics. She has conducted extensive comparative research on working mothers in the United States, Taiwan, and Spain, examining how different cultural and policy contexts shape women's experiences balancing professional and family responsibilities.

Huang's scholarly output includes the book Chiang Kai-shek's Politics of Shame: Leadership, Legacy and National Identity in China (Harvard University Asia Center, 2021), along with numerous blog posts and articles examining fertility policies, gender roles, and academic work-life balance. Her recent publications analyze Taiwan's low fertility rate and presidential candidates' policy proposals for addressing this demographic challenge.
