Professor Gordon Hamilton is a Professor of Medical Entomology and Vector Control at Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine. He is affiliated with the Biomedical And Life Sciences department. His research focuses on vector-borne diseases, particularly leishmaniasis transmitted by sand flies, and involves genomic analysis of disease vectors, climate impact studies, and development of vector control strategies.
- Projects include Horizon Europe's CLIMOS framework for sand fly disease monitoring and field trials of synthetic pheromones to reduce visceral leishmaniasis transmission.
His expertise spans medical entomology, vector biology, and tropical medicine with a focus on genomic approaches to understand vector-pathogen interactions.
He currently leads research groups in Microbes, Pathogens and Immunity, and collaborates on projects involving climate policy measures for disease mitigation.
