Gordon Hall

Gordon Hall is an Assistant Professor of Art at Vassar College, joining in 2021. They hold an MFA and MA in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and a BA in Philosophy and Studio Art from Hampshire College. Their work spans sculpture, performance, and writing, emphasizing interdisciplinary practices.

Research Interests: Hall explores intersections of sculpture, performance, and critical writing, often interrogating institutional frameworks and embodied knowledge. Their practice includes directing the Center for Experimental Lectures, commissioning lecture-performances by artists and writers presented globally.

Exhibitions & Recognition: Solo exhibitions at EMPAC, MIT List Visual Arts Center, and Portland Institute for Contemporary Art. Featured in group shows at the Whitney Museum, Brooklyn Museum, and The Drawing Center. Awards include grants from the Graham Foundation and residencies at Skowhegan and Fire Island.

Teaching & Projects: Teaches courses like Sculpture I/II and Studio Art Senior Project at Vassar. Oversees the Center for Experimental Lectures, fostering experimental discourse between art and academia.
