Prof. Gordon Cheng is a Full Professor of Cognitive Systems at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), leading the Chair of Cognitive Systems since 2010. He holds leadership roles in the Center of Competence NeuroEngineering and the Elite Master of Science program in Neuroengineering. His academic journey includes a PhD in Systems Engineering from The Australian National University (2001) and prior roles at institutions like ATR Computational Neuroscience Laboratories (Japan) and Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines University (France).
Research & Expertise: His work spans Humanoid Robotics, Neuroengineering, and AI, with pioneering contributions to artificial robotic skin, neurorobotics, and medical exoskeleton systems. Notable projects include the Walk Again Project, which developed brain-machine interface exoskeletons for paraplegic patients, and the development of advanced humanoid robots like H1 and iCub.
