Gopal Bhatt

Gopal Bhatt serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University and holds an Affiliate Researcher position with the Institutes of Energy and the Environment (IEE), contributing to Climate and Natural Systems and Water Sustainability initiatives.

His research centers on hydrology with specialized expertise in watershed modeling, coastal/wetland systems, and climate change impacts. He employs GIS, numerical methods, and open-source software tools like PIHM and PIHMgis for environmental analysis, with significant applications in the Chesapeake Bay watershed through projects such as the Chesapeake Bay Partnership Watershed Model. His work integrates multistate age-of-water studies to advance sustainable water resource management.

Dr. Bhatt received a Communications Award in 2022 as part of the Civil and Environmental Engineering research faculty team and was promoted to Assistant Research Professor effective July 2023.
