About
Goki EDA is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the National University of Singapore (NUS). His research focuses on understanding and exploiting the physical behaviors of low-dimensional materials, particularly 2D semiconductors, to advance optoelectronics and quantum photonics. He leads the Centre for Advanced 2D Materials, emphasizing interdisciplinary work spanning condensed matter physics, materials chemistry, and quantum technologies.
Education: Postdoc at Imperial College London; PhD from Rutgers University; M.Sc. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute; B.A. from International Christian University.
Research interests include exciton optoelectronics, quantum charge transport, and novel 2D crystal synthesis. Recent work highlights include studies on magnon-magnon coupling in antiferromagnets, defect engineering in MoS₂, and quantum emitters in WS₂. His team has developed methods to control magnetic anisotropy via electrostatic gating and engineered light-matter interactions in van der Waals heterostructures.
Awards: Includes Dean’s Chair (NUS, 2019), Singapore National Academy of Science’s Young Scientist Award (2015), and National Research Foundation Fellowship (2011).
Teaching includes courses like Materials Chemistry I and Advanced Inorganic Electronic Materials. Advised PhD students such as Chen Yuan, Nam, and Justin, with recent graduates contributing to spin dynamics and nanodevice research. Active in securing grants for quantum materials and 2D material characterization.
Labs/Teams: Part of the NUS Centre for Advanced 2D Materials, focusing on cutting-edge experimental and theoretical studies of low-dimensional systems.
