Glorian Provost

Glorian Provost serves as a Lecturer in Philosophy within the Humanities and Communication Department at California State University, Monterey Bay's College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Her academic work centers on Integral Philosophy, Contemplative Philosophy, and Transformational Education.

Dr. Provost's research interests include:

• Integral Philosophy as "world philosophy" incorporating Eastern and Western traditions
• Contemplative approaches to philosophical inquiry
• Transformational educational practices that promote personal growth
• Critical examination of "toxic ideas" that limit human potential

Her teaching philosophy centers on what she describes as "contemplative philosophy from an integral perspective," encouraging students to view the world as a mirror reflecting their inner psyche. She emphasizes the importance of being "guided by awakening ideas, rather than toxic ones" and helps students develop critical thinking skills to question harmful beliefs they may have internalized. Dr. Provost teaches courses including Ways of Knowing, Critical Thinking and Ethics, Relational Ethics, and Philosophy According to the Movies. Her office is located in CAHSS 504-2105, with Fall 2025 office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00pm-6:00pm, and by appointment in Building 47, Room 104.
