Giuseppe Retrosi, MD, MEd, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Manitoba’s Max Rady College of Medicine. He works as a pediatric general surgeon at the Health Sciences Centre and Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg, specializing in minimally invasive surgery and neonatal surgery.

Research Interests: Dr. Retrosi’s clinical research focuses on surgical education and congenital anomalies, with expertise in minimally invasive and neonatal surgical techniques. He has contributed to improving pediatric surgical care in under-resourced environments through international missions in Eritrea (2007, 2008) and Nepal (2011).
Professional Experience: After training in Rome, he completed research and clinical fellowships at Great Ormond Street Hospital, St George’s Hospital, and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, UK. He later worked at A. Gemelli Hospital in Rome before joining Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto for a NICU surgical fellowship.
Current Role: Based at the University of Manitoba’s Bannatyne campus, Dr. Retrosi combines pediatric surgical practice with academic work in surgical education. He is not currently accepting graduate students.
