About
Giuseppe Campione is a Full Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Palermo, holding the position since qualifying in 2013. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor since 2005. He holds a Civil Engineering degree with honors from the University of Palermo (1988). His expertise spans innovative and traditional materials for civil construction, including fiber-reinforced concrete, FRP, and structural glass, with a focus on experimental and theoretical analysis of structural behavior.
His research encompasses compression, flexure, and axial bending studies of reinforced concrete, composite steel-concrete structures, and laminated glass. Theoretical contributions include evolutionary tie-strut models for diffusive regions and confinement models for masonry and reinforced concrete structures strengthened with lightweight concrete, steel jackets, or wire systems. He has led national (PRIN) and local projects and collaborated with universities such as the University of Michigan (USA) and the University of British Columbia (Canada).
Dr. Campione teaches courses on structural design, experimentation, and rehabilitation techniques, contributing to both academic and applied engineering advancements.
