About
Giulia Ramella is a Doctoral Assistant at the Biorobotics Laboratory (BIOROB) within the School of Engineering (STI) at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). She is simultaneously pursuing a Doctoral program in Robotics, Control, and Intelligent Systems through EPFL's School of Engineering and Doctoral School in Robotics, Control and Intelligent Systems (EDRS).
Her research focuses on human-robot interaction and exoskeleton technology, particularly in the development of adaptive assistance systems for both hip exoskeletons and upper-limb occupational exoskeletons. This includes work on negative damping control, user preference learning, kinematics-based assistance, and musculoskeletal load reduction, with applications spanning mobility assistance and industrial ergonomics.
Recent publications demonstrate expertise in adaptive control algorithms, biomechanical feedback integration, and real-time exoskeleton optimization. Her work involves both theoretical development and practical implementation of semi-passive and passive exoskeleton systems tailored for dynamic environments.
