Giulia Battistoni is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Post-Doctoral Global Fellow and Teaching Assistant at the University of Verona. She holds the position of Research Fellow and leads the help-desk of the Research Centre “Ricerche di Gnoseologia e Metafisica”. She will be a Visiting Researcher at Boston University (Jan 2023–July 2024), supervised by Prof. Sally Sedgwick, focusing on collective responsibility and environmental ethics.
Education: PhD in Philosophy (2019) from the University of Verona and Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, with a thesis on imputation and responsibility in Hegel’s action theory.
Research Interests: Classical German Philosophy (especially Hegel and German Idealism), moral and legal responsibility, and environmental ethics. Current projects explore collective responsibility toward nature and future generations, integrating 19th-century idealism with Hans Jonas’ philosophy.
Awards & Publications: Authored Azione e imputazione in G.W.F. Hegel (2020) and edited Fondamenti per un agire responsabile (2020). Recognized with the Sainati Prize and Italian Society of Moral Philosophy’s Best Essay Award.
Professional Engagement: Member of Hegel Art Net (translating Hegel’s aesthetics lectures) and SAFI. Collaborates on global responsibility initiatives via projects like Collective Responsibility towards Nature.
