Giulia Allegrini

Giulia Allegrini is an Associate Professor at the Department of Arts of the University of Bologna. She holds a PhD in Sociology (2016) and a Doctorate in Political Science (2003). Her research focuses on processes of civic participation, cultural engagement, and the role of culture in fostering social change, with a particular emphasis on urban regeneration and participatory welfare.

Research & Projects: She has led and contributed to multiple European and national projects, including the Creative Europe program Performing Gender: Dancing in Your Shoes (audience engagement) and the Interreg Central Europe project Altruistic Entrepreneur (social entrepreneurship). She is also involved in action research with public institutions like the Municipality of Bologna, addressing urban spaces, cultural policies, and community welfare.

Teaching: She teaches Lab of Audience Development (Master’s in Cinema, TV, and Multimedia Production) and courses on urban democracy and participatory processes. She has also designed specialized training programs on conflict mediation, sustainable tourism, and peacebuilding.

Collaborations: She collaborates with the Foundation for Urban Innovation and the Center for Advanced Studies on Consumption and Communication. She has served on scientific committees for regional participatory projects, such as Medicina è tua (2019) and ESF conflict management initiatives.

Awards: Her professional merits include the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor (2022) and recognition for her work in peace mediation (2004).
