Gisselle Tur Porres

Dr. Gisselle Tur Porres is a Lecturer in Early Childhood Studies and Programme Director for the BA in Early Childhood Studies at Swansea University's Education and Childhood Studies department within the School of Social Sciences. She holds a basic proficiency in Welsh and is available for postgraduate supervision. Her research focuses on emancipatory pedagogies, participatory approaches involving children, families, and communities, and early childhood educational policies. She leads the WERA International Research Network on children’s agency during and beyond the pandemic.

Dr. Tur Porres has extensive experience in teacher education and policy analysis, having previously directed educational assessment programs in Uruguay and led pedagogical initiatives in Ecuador. Her work bridges Latin American and global contexts, emphasizing qualitative methodologies such as participatory and ethnographic research. She collaborates internationally on projects related to early childhood education, teacher training, and body-centered pedagogy.

Her recent publications explore themes like child participation in education, pandemic-era learning, and cross-cultural comparisons of higher education quality assurance systems. She advocates for child-centered curricula and innovative teaching practices, particularly in non-maintained educational sectors.

Dr. Tur Porres is affiliated with Swansea University’s Keir Hardie Building and actively contributes to academic networks like the World Educational Research Association (WERA) and the Ecuadorian Association for Educational Research (AsEFIE).
