About
Gisèle Li serves as Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Montreal, with clinical affiliations at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR) and the Research Network in Vision Health (RRSV).
Her research centers on the intersection of ophthalmology and cognitive aging, specifically investigating how age-related eye diseases impact neurological function over time. This work combines clinical ophthalmology assessments with cognitive testing protocols to establish longitudinal correlations between visual system deterioration and cognitive decline.
Professor Li previously co-led a major CIHR-funded study (2014-2021) examining connections between ocular pathologies and cognitive impairment in aging populations. This multidisciplinary project involved collaboration with gerontology and neurology specialists across Montreal institutions and utilized HMR's clinical resources for patient cohort management and data collection.
