Giovanni Ricco is a full professor at École Polytechnique (since 2023) and the University of Warwick (since 2015), where he was promoted to full professor in 2021. He holds affiliations with CREST, OFCE-Sciences Po, CEPR, and the Euro Area Business Cycle Dating Committee. He earned PhDs in Economics (London Business School) and Theoretical Physics (Pisa University), alongside an MSc in Economics (LUISS).
His research focuses on empirical macroeconomics, monetary and fiscal policy, and imperfect information models. Recent work includes analyzing monetary policy shocks, country risk in the Euro Area, and the historical dynamics of business cycles. He teaches advanced macroeconomics at Warwick and is an associate editor of the European Economic Review.
His affiliations include research fellowships at the South African Reserve Bank and ERSA, and he actively contributes to policy-relevant macroeconomic research.
