Giovanni Guzzo

Giovanni Guzzo is a distinguished violinist, conductor, and academic, currently serving as a Professor of Violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz since 2022. He is also the Concertmaster of the CAMERATA Salzburg, a role he has held since 2021. Born in Venezuela to Italian and Venezuelan heritage, Guzzo has established an international reputation through his performances as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral leader. His career highlights include collaborations with renowned ensembles like the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, performances under conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle and Marin Alsop, and appearances at prestigious venues including Wigmore Hall, Salzburg Festival, and Lincoln Center.

His education includes studies at the Reina Sofía Music School in Madrid and the Royal Academy of Music in London (on scholarship), where he graduated with the highest honors. As a recording artist, Guzzo’s discography includes acclaimed releases of Brahms’ Piano Quartets, Schumann’s Piano Concerto, and Ysaÿe’s Violin Sonatas, earning him critical praise and awards. His violin performances have been described as 'magnetic,' and he plays historic instruments such as a 1759 Gennaro Gagliano violin and the Stradivarius 'Viotti ex-Bruce.'
