Giovanni Bulian

Giovanni Bulian is an Associate Professor at the Department of Asian and North African Studies at Ca' Foscari University of Venice. His academic background includes a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Siena (2011) and a Master’s in Cultural Anthropology from Ca' Foscari (2007). He holds a National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor (2021) and Associate Professor (2018).

His research focuses on environmental anthropology, studying climate change impacts in coastal regions of Japan, maritime resource management, and traditional forecasting knowledge. He also explores the anthropology of religion, human agency in climate adaptation, and food systems. His work integrates fieldwork with theoretical contributions to rural anthropology and material culture studies.
