Gina Partipilo

Gina Partipilo is a President's Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, affiliated with the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Her work bridges synthetic biology, chemical engineering, and bioengineering to explore extracellular electron transfer and its applications in biocatalysis and living materials.

• Education: B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Her research focuses on synthetic biology, genetic circuit design, and bioelectronic systems. Key projects include leveraging extracellular electron transfer for biocatalytic applications, engineering microbial systems for chemical production, and developing biohybrid materials with transcriptional control mechanisms.
