Gina Choi

Gina Choi is a Visiting Assistant Professor of East Asian Art History at New York University Abu Dhabi, specializing in premodern Korean and Japanese painting. Her research explores cross-cultural dialogues in East Asian art, the interplay between visual and textual media, and collaborative artistic practices.

Educational Background:

• Ph.D., Princeton University (2024)

Research Focus: Choi's dissertation, "Reaching 'Peach Blossom Spring': Poetry and Painting in Fifteenth-Century Korea and Japan," investigates how idealized spaces were conceptualized and represented through combined poetic and pictorial works. She is currently revising this work into a book manuscript.

Funding & Affiliations: Her research has received support from the Japan Foundation, the Academy of Korean Studies, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She works at the intersection of East Asian art history and comparative cultural studies.
