Gillian Lord

Gillian Lord is a Professor of Hispanic Linguistics at the University of Florida's Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies, affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds administrative roles as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs and Director of the Academic Advising Center. With a Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics from Penn State University (2001), she specializes in second language acquisition, particularly Spanish phonetics/phonology and technology-enhanced language pedagogy. Her research explores effective teaching methods, study abroad outcomes, and digital innovations in language learning. She has directed UF's lower-division Spanish program and served as Department Chair (2010-2021).
