Gilles Vonsattel

Gilles Vonsattel is a Swiss-born American pianist and Professor of Piano at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he also serves as Coordinator of the Piano Area. He has performed globally as a soloist and chamber musician, with repertoire spanning from Bach to Xenakis, and collaborators including Yo-Yo Ma, Heinz Holliger, and members of the Borromeo and Pacifica Quartets.

• Education: B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Columbia University; M.M. in Piano from The Juilliard School (studying with Jerome Lowenthal).
• Research & Performance Focus: Classical and contemporary piano repertoire, chamber music, and premieres of works by composers like Ned Rorem and Nico Muhly.
