Gilles Pollet is a Professor of Political Science at Sciences Po Lyon and Director of the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme Lyon Saint-Etienne (MSH LSE) since 2016. He has held leadership roles including Director of Sciences Po Lyon (2004–2014) and Head of the Doctorate in Political Science at the University of Lyon. His research focuses on public policy analysis, welfare state formation, and socio-historical studies of governance and municipal administrations.
Education: DEUG, Licence, and Maîtrise in sociology (Lyon 2, 1981–1983); DEA and Doctorate in contemporary history (Lyon 2, 1984–1990); Habilitation in Political Science (Grenoble IEP, 1994); Agrégation in Political Science (rank 4th, 1996).
Research interests include the socio-historical analysis of public policy implementation, welfare state structures, and municipal governance dynamics. His recent work examines interdisciplinary challenges in social sciences and the evolution of governance knowledge.
Key roles: Co-Head of the Master of Public Policy (MaPP) at the University of Lyon; member of the CNRS Section 40; editorial contributor to journals like Gouvernement et action publique. Supervised 21 PhD theses and coordinated 9 HDR defenses.
