About
Gildas Assogba is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Soil Physics and Land Management at Wageningen University. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Systems from the same institution (awarded February 2024). His research focuses on sustainable agricultural practices in semi-arid regions, particularly biomass management, crop-livestock integration, and low-input farming systems in West Africa. Key areas of expertise include agroecological modelling, resource optimization in smallholder farming, and landscape-scale agricultural planning.
Recent projects include leading the Food Systems Transformation in Southern Africa for One Health (FoSTA-Health) initiative (2023-2026) and completing a PhD thesis titled The biomass challenge: a multiple scale modelling approach. He has presented research findings at international conferences on topics like biomass scarcity mitigation and soil fertility management in Burkina Faso.
Research collaborations span institutions globally, with a focus on African agricultural systems. His work emphasizes systems approaches to address challenges in sustainable agriculture, including the use of serious games for decision-making support in mixed farming systems.
