Gilbert Stöck serves as a Consultant Lecturer for Special Tasks at the Institute of Musicology of the University of Leipzig since July 2005. His work is based at the Municipal Department Store, Entrance E, Neumarkt 9, Room 307 in Leipzig.
Dr. Stöck's research focuses on Music in Portugal during the 20th Century and Music in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). His expertise spans notation systems, musical form, editorial methodologies in musicology, and the historical development of musicological scholarship.
His teaching portfolio includes specialized courses in Notation Science, Form Analysis, Editorial Practice, History of Musicology, and instruction in Balinese Gamelan. These offerings reflect his dual commitment to theoretical musicology and practical musical traditions from diverse cultural contexts.
Previously, from July 2002 to June 2005, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Institute of Musicology of Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg. He completed his doctoral degree (Promotion) at Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg in June 2007.
