Gift Gawanani

Gift Gawanani is a research fellow at the BIGSAS - Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies at the University of Bayreuth. Her work focuses on Human Rights, Children's Rights, and Social Work within African contexts, particularly in Malawi and Ghana.

• Current project: State obligations in addressing climate change-induced child labour

This research applies social legal methods to investigate the disconnection between international legal frameworks (e.g., Convention on the Rights of the Child, ILO standards) and the lived realities of families affected by climate-induced child labor. She examines how community-based structures can complement formal systems in child protection.
