Dr. Fifi's research focuses on the political economy of crisis management and its impact on European integration processes. He examines how economic crises reshape policy preferences of political actors and alter perceptions of Europe's future trajectory. His work spans European Union studies, political economy, and crisis politics, with particular attention to how policy responses evolve in the European context during periods of instability.
His recent research explores the transition from green policies to just transition frameworks in EU climate governance, identifying the emergence of what he terms the 'Compensatory State' concept. This work intersects environmental policy, political economy, and European integration studies, reflecting broader trends in understanding how the EU addresses complex challenges through integrated policy approaches.
Dr. Fifi has published in leading academic journals including the Journal of European Public Policy, Review of International Political Economy, and New Political Economy.
