Gianetta Baril

Gianetta Baril is a renowned Canadian harpist and educator affiliated with the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University. Her career combines international performance acclaim with academic teaching, and she founded a harp ensemble at Mount Royal University. A graduate of the University of Toronto under Judy Loman, she has performed at World Harp Congresses and for British royalty.

Her research interests focus on harp performance, classical repertoire, and Canadian music. She has contributed to international harp recordings, including the acclaimed CBC SM-5086 album with Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. In teaching, she emphasizes technical excellence and expressive artistry.

Baril has received critical acclaim for her performances, including a glowing review from Germany's Neue Ruhr Zeitung. She has been honored to represent Canada at World Harp Congresses in Vienna and Paris, and to perform solo for the Queen, Prince Charles, and Princess Diana.
