Gian Luca Giorgi is a Professor at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Sciences, University of the Balearic Islands, and a Beatriz Galindo Distinguished Research Fellow at IFISC (Institute for Interdisciplinary Physics and Complex Systems) in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. He obtained his BSc in Physics in 2002 and PhD in Physics in 2006 from La Sapienza University in Rome.
His research focuses on quantum information theory and its applications across multiple domains including quantum optics, solid-state systems, atomic systems, and ions. Over recent years, his work has expanded into interdisciplinary areas such as quantum coherence in biological systems, quantum thermodynamics, and quantum synchronization phenomena. His current primary research focus centers on applying complex quantum systems to machine learning, particularly quantum reservoir computing.
