Gezim Xhaferi

Gezim Xhaferi is a Full Professor in German Linguistics at the German Department within the Faculty of Languages, Cultures and Communication at South East European University (SEEU), where he has served since 2002. He currently holds the position of Head of the German Department and has previously served as Dean, Acting Dean, and Pro Dean of the Faculty. His academic career spans institutions in Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Germany.

Xhaferi’s research focuses on German linguistics, particularly pragmatic competence, speech acts, discourse markers, and multilingualism in educational settings. His work explores the acquisition of German as a foreign language, contrastive analysis between German and Albanian, and the application of pragmatic theories in higher education pedagogies like inquiry-based learning.

His publications highlight trends in pragmatic analysis, discourse strategies, and foreign language education, with recent studies on YouTube interviews, political discourse, and stylistic empathy in language. Collaborations often involve Biljana Ivanovska and Brikena Xhaferi.
