Gert Mayer

Gert Mayer serves as Rector of the Medical University of Innsbruck since October 1, 2025, following 17 years as Director of the University Clinic for Internal Medicine IV (Nephrology and Hypertension) in Innsbruck. He holds the academic rank of Professor with deep expertise in renal medicine and academic administration.

His educational pathway commenced with human medicine studies at the University of Vienna's Medical Faculty, followed by specialist training in internal medicine and nephrology at Vienna General Hospital (AKH). He expanded his research capabilities through a Max Kade Fellowship at Stanford University.
