Gerry W. Beyer is the Governor Preston E. Smith Regents Professor of Law at Texas Tech University School of Law, where he has served since 2005. He teaches courses in Wills and Trusts, Property Law, and Estate Planning.

As a nationally recognized estate planning expert, his scholarly work on digital assets, cryptocurrency, and ethical concerns in estate planning has been cited by over two dozen courts. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the REPTL Reporter and maintains the most downloaded estate planning blawg in the nation. His research has earned him three ABA Excellence in Writing Awards and placement in the top .001% of authors on SSRN.
Over his 40-year teaching career, Prof. Beyer has received multiple teaching awards from Texas Tech, Santa Clara University, and St. Mary's University. He has delivered approximately 300 national seminars on estate planning and serves as a Reporter for the Uniform Law Commission's Drafting Committee on Electronic Estate Planning Documents.
