About
Professor Gerry Melino holds the Chair of Biochemistry at University of Rome-Tor Vergata and is a member of both Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and Academia Europaea. As founder/editor of Cell Death journals (Differentiation, Disease, Discovery), he leads research on p53 family proteins (p63/p73) in cancer cell death, neural development, and transcriptional regulation.
Research encompasses tumor suppressor mechanisms, neural differentiation pathways, and metabolic regulation in cancer. Recent publications explore beige adipogenesis (2020), hippocampal development (2020), and neuroblastoma biomarkers (2018). His laboratory employs transgenic models to investigate p73 isoforms in DNA damage response and degradation pathways.
