Gerhard Thiel is a Professor of Botany at the Faculty of Biology, Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, since 2005. He previously held a C2 Professorship at the same institution from 2000 to 2005 and served as a Group Leader in Plant Physiology at the University of Göttingen (1995-2000). His career includes postdoctoral work at the University of Göttingen (1991-1995) and the University of Cambridge, UK (1989-1991).
