Gerhard Kristandl

Dr. Gerhard Kristandl is an Associate Professor and National Teaching Fellow at the University of Greenwich, affiliated with the School of Accounting, Finance and Economics within the Faculty of Business. His career spans 18 years across the UK, Canada, and Austria, focusing on integrating technology into higher education. He specializes in blended/hybrid teaching methods, generative AI applications in education, and learning technology innovation. As former GBS Learning Technologist (until 2023), he led technology-based educational initiatives and contributed to the University’s AI Task Force and Online Assessment Workgroup. He is an advocate for AI literacy and interactive learning tools like Mentimeter, and maintains active social media engagement through YouTube, LinkedIn, and Medium.

His research bridges management accounting and digital transformation, exploring topics like cloud computing in SMEs, historical accounting practices, and the impact of generative AI on educational integrity. Key contributions include studies on self-efficacy in undergraduate students, OBS software in online teaching, and voluntary disclosure in intellectual capital valuation. He holds a Ph.D. and has worked in management consulting at Accenture Germany, enriching his academic pursuits with industry insights.

Dr. Kristandl’s awards include the 2024 National Teaching Fellowship (first recipient from Greenwich Business School) and 2018 Senior Fellowship in Higher Education. He collaborates with organizations like ALE and TEQSA on academic integrity initiatives, and frequently discusses AI ethics in education through blogs and conferences.
