Gerard Fitzpatrick is a Professor of Politics at Ursinus University, specializing in American national politics and Public Law. His teaching includes courses on the Supreme Court, constitutional interpretation, Congress, presidency, and political parties, alongside a capstone seminar on American politics.
- Education: B.A. from Bloomsburg State College, M.A. and Ph.D. from University of Virginia
His research focuses on Supreme Court justice selection, the 2000 Florida recount, and First Amendment analysis. He currently studies the jurisprudence of recently appointed Supreme Court justices. Students under his mentorship have presented research at CoSA 2019 and the Summer Fellows program.
Gerard Fitzpatrick is an active participant in academic seminars, including a 20th Century Presidency seminar led by Stanford’s Robert Dallek. Outside academia, he enjoys classic jazz from the 1920s and 1930s.
