Geovanny Alberto Marulanda García is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Research in Technology (IIT) of Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, Spain. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Energy from Comillas and a Master's in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, Colombia. His current research focuses on electricity market modeling, renewable energy uncertainty, and cross-border energy policies within the Decision Support Systems in Energy Sector (SADSE) group. He has conducted doctoral research at TU Delft (Netherlands) and contributed to projects with Endesa and Enel, specializing in energy market optimization and scenario generation.
Research interests include operation/regulation of electricity markets, AI-driven forecasting, and uncertainty modeling. He has authored over 30 publications, including work on LSTM-based wind forecasting and stochastic environmental risk assessment. His teaching experience spans power systems and electrical engineering courses.
Awarded the Best Paper at IREC 2022 for his wind forecasting ensemble approach. Advises master’s theses at Universidad Carlos III Madrid. Active in developing tools like VALORE and ACUARIO for energy market analysis.
